Bio/Description

I am a computational astrophysicist with a passion for studying the physics associated with gravitational wave events involving neutron stars. My research lies at the intersection of gravity, nuclear physics, and plasma astrophysics.

Using advanced computational methods, I perform large-scale numerical simulations of merging neutron star binaries in full general relativity. With these, I investigate how fundamental properties of neutron stars can be probed by gravitational wave detections and their electromagnetic follow-up observations. More specifically, I currently aim to identify dense matter imprints in the gravitational wave signal of binary neutron star mergers and to investigate potential electromagnetic precursors emitted before the merger of the two neutron stars. I am also very interested in the dynamics of magnetic fields in the merger process, and in how microphysical viscosity can affect the dynamics of the system.
