I am interested in fluid dynamics, typically in application to problems in astrophysics and geophysics. I study problems synthesizing different approaches, including analytic theory, numerical calculations, and laboratory experiments. I am a core developer for the open-source pseudo-spectral code Dedalus (dedalus-project.org). I develop and test reduced models of complex nonlinear phenomena, including internal wave generation by convection, and turbulent mixing by penetrative convection.
